It is not always easy to understand the terms used when it comes to hybrid cats. To help you gain a clearer understanding, here is a brief description of the terms used to define the various generations.
A hybrid cat that has 50% domestic cat blood and 50% blood from another feline species.
After that, the letter F is followed by the number that represents how many generations separate the cat from its ancestor of another feline species. Usually, F5 generations and beyond are considered equivalent to other domestic cats in terms of behaviour and needs.
The term SBT, which stands for Stud Book Tradition, means the cat comes from at least three generations of Caracats, without the involvement of a Caracal or a cat of another breed.
When it comes to hybrid cats, it is important to note that the earliest generations remain very close to their wild ancestors. We therefore recommend that ownership of these cats be reserved for breeders and individuals with prior experience or knowledge of hybrid cats.
